CVAC Systems and TempusClinic partner
to study the potential value of the CVAC process in managing and treating
diabetes, insulin resistance, and metabolic syndrome
"TempusClinic's current patient
base includes over 70 Silicon Valley CEOs and VCs as well as over
a dozen international elite-level athletes. We are extremely pleased
with this partnership." Allen J. Ruszkowski, President/CEO,
CVAC Systems
TEMECULA, Calif. and LOS GATOS, Calif. Sept. 25, 2006-CVAC
Systems, Inc. (www.cvacsystems.com) announced today an agreement
with Los Gatos, Calif.-based TempusClinic to study the potential
value of the CVAC process in managing and treating diabetes, insulin
resistance, and metabolic syndrome. The study is expected to commence
next month.
CVAC Systems has developed a new, noninvasive modality for the treatment
of metabolic derangement, which includes diabetes, insulin resistance,
and metabolic syndrome. Data published in respected peer-reviewed
journals have shown significant improvement in metabolic insulin
efficiency and glycemic control (in animals and man) with the use
of intermittent hypoxic (high altitude) training (IHT). Cyclic variations
in altitude conditioning (CVAC) is a scientifically validated IHT
process that triggers the human bodys natural high-altitude adaptation
response. CVAC, however, produces the beneficial effects of high-altitude
adaptation via IHT while significantly reducing the required exposure
time for IHT. Other techniques providing IHT require exposures ranging
from 21 to 84 hours per week; CVAC exposures require less than 4.5
hours a week.
"There are more than 90 million individuals in the U.S. and
some 200 million worldwide who suffer from metabolic derangement, " said
Allen J. Ruszkowski, President and CEO of CVAC Systems. "The
cost of treating diabetes alone, which is just one of the forms of
metabolic derangement, is over $125 billion annually in the U.S.
In addition, there are an estimated 50 million Americans with metabolic
syndrome, another form of metabolic derangement, who have a fivefold
increased probability of developing diabetes and a twofold increased
risk in developing cardiovascular disease. Currently, physicians
lack a successful treatment regimen to help their patients other
than browbeating the patient to change diet, lose weight and exercise,
which has very poor compliance."
"TempusClinic uses a four-part integrated program to help our
clients achieve metabolic turnaround. We combine the best of today's
science, the most advanced technologies, and the most natural means
by which our clients can achieve their health and fitness goals," added
Mike Nichols, M.D., CEO and Founder of TempusClinic. "We are,
therefore, very interested in studying the CVAC process, which we
believe will go hand-in-hand with our programs. We are always looking
for scientifically validated noninvasive, non-toxic approaches to
health enhancement," said Dr. Nichols.
About TempusClinic
Founded in 2001, TempusClinic is the leader in personalized preventative
health care. Located in Los Gatos, Calif., TempusClinic is comprised
of a team of renowned physicians, fitness trainers, and medical professionals
who are committed to health excellence in a caring, supportive and
educational environment. Dr. Nichols' background in scientific theory
construction at the University of Chicago, where he obtained his
first graduate degree in the Philosophy of Science, led him to question
current medical approaches to complex medical problems and led him
eventually to found the TempusClinic. His medical degree is from
Loyola University of Chicago and residency from Stanford University.
He practiced medicine for twenty years prior to developing TempusClinic.
